The competition for under 11's was first held in 2005. In 2011, the Cheeky Monkeys, a team of three and four year olds in the under 11's competition, actually caught more worms than the highest scoring team in the adult category - thus making them overall winners. The same thing happened the following year when the under 11's Olympixies team took the competition by storm with 102 worms - twenty more than the leading adult team.

In 2016, the Wormcharming Committee ruled that only one team would be selected as fancy dress winners - whether adult or under 11's. In addition, however it was agreed that the fancy dress judge could make a discretionary award to the best fancy dressed non-competitor if appropriate.
In 2014, a prize was awarded for the best contraption used to lure worms during "worming-up". This was won by the team, Hoose? - Smith - Turner (comprising Kaia, Barney & Raife).
